Our grand adventure started at Newport, where we then passed Scotland Island and cruised into Coaster Retreat to spend the night. In the morning, we left the bay and decided to cruise to America Bay to have breakfast. After that, we picked up my mum and my grandma and travelled to Hallets Beach around 10 o’clock. We saw a seal off the back of the boat! In the evening, we dropped off my grandma, and let my mum stay for the night. Together the next day, me and my mum went fishing together, but had no luck. In the afternoon we cruised back to Cottage Point, dropped off my mum and drove into America Bay. Our last night was filled with surprises, as we saw amazing creatures, like flying fish and an eagle. Our last day was filled to the brim with luck. I caught 8 fish in 45 minutes. Thank you for this terrific experience on board the Kangaroo!

Who knew? Being infrequent visitors to Sydney, the northern beaches proved to be an unexpected surprise, significantly enhanced by our trip out on MV Kangaroo. I wonder whether Sydney siders know this experience is only an hour or so from the city.
The Kangaroo is a beautifully kept wooden Halvorsen, equipped to do 3-5 day excursions on Pittwater and the Hawkesbury. Ours was a winter day sail and Pittwater was peaceful and calm with minimal boat traffic. We were cosy inside and had a great time. With so many well located moorings to hook up to, it is on our agenda to return to explore the Hawkesbury with some mates, over several days. It's a world away from the bustle of the city and yet so close.

We recently had the pleasure of chartering the Heavenly Halvorsen Kangaroo and it was an unforgettable experience. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. The boat itself was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably maintained, providing the perfect setting for our adventure on the water.
Our host, Michele, was an absolute delight. From the moment we stepped on board, she made us feel welcome and ensured that every detail was taken care of. Her knowledge of the area and her passion for boating shone through, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to our 4-hour cruise.
Exploring the stunning bays of Pittwater was truly breathtaking. From secluded coves to picturesque beaches, every stop offered something new to discover. We particularly appreciated the flexibility of the itinerary, which allowed us to tailor our trip to suit our preferences.
Overall, our experience with MV Kangaroo exceeded all expectations. We cannot recommend them highly enough for anyone looking to explore the beauty of Pittwater from the comfort of a luxury boat.

Lovely trip out to Lovett with family to scatter our darling Don McFee’s ashes. He grew up on Pittwater in the 1930’s and rowed around as a young lad. He knew every bay and anchorage and also walked the bush untroubled. Camping out with a friend overnight in Kuring-gai on many occasions. A wonderful untroubled childhood led him to enjoy the bush and he later went outback to farm and when he retired travel to far away places and know and love the wild spaces.

Wow... what a day on the gorgeous Kangaroo on Sydney’s Pittwater. Hosted by Michele and Ian who made the day a memorable outing. They took us to great swimming locations, played tour guide and always made sure we were comfortable. We felt so welcomed!! Thanks Michele - we cannot wait until we board Kangaroo again!

Despite only having 2 days on board, we were truly charmed by the Kangaroo’s beauty and character. Soft rain and light clouds led us to Castle Bay for a swim and lunch, followed by an evening spent indulging in Refuge Bay’s waterfall and wine-fuelled charades! We awoke to a windless morning, the sun rays slithering across the water’s glossy surface. The Basin was out next and last stop. Swimming ashore, we explored the area, filled with lizards and wallabies. The journey back to the marina was peaceful, salty hair and sun-kissed skin the markers of a relaxing night away, upon the water.

Where to begin!! Michele is one of the most professional, diligent and organised person we worked with for our wedding. She went above and beyond on every detail, depth checking, weather, flag rigging (with Ian) etc. Kangaroo is such a beautiful boat with so much history (ABBA filmed a video on it!)
If you are after a charter boat with a professional crew, look no further!!! 10/10 🙏

This was a Xmas gift to our chidren and their partners. It was perfect. The weather was perfect and the boat was perfect. Lots of funny times and great conversations. Spent most of our time in Cowan Creek as first timers. Waking up to the still water and thick fog was wonderful. Highlight: the bioluminescence at night. What an amazing thing to see and experience in the water! Seemless hiring of boat. Lots of information, great communication. The boat was clean, tidy and well equipped. Thank you.

I recently had the pleasure of returning to spend a few days on Kangaroo with three friends. It’s the height of cruising luxury, with all the creature comforts of home, aboard a beautifully crafted, classic Halverson. Having cruised on Kangaroo before, I was impressed by a couple of additions to the boat. Notably, the new user-friendly swim ladder is a great improvement and makes getting out of the water super easy. There are also two new maps strategically positioned, one on the cockpit door and the other usefully displayed on the dinette table top. These helped us keep track of our whereabouts while cruising and then at the end of the day, they enabled us to talk about where we'd been and where we’d like to go next.
We spent our first night in Coasters Retreat/The Basin under a stunning full moon and rounded West Head early the next morning in very favourable conditions. We’d decided to try some new locations, so we bee-lined to Gunyah Beach (at the entrance to the Hawkesbury) for breakfast and an exploration along the beach. Since there’s only one swing mooring in Gunyah Beach, stopping isn’t always an option, but it was available for us on this occasion. Our second night was spent in tranquil Yeoman's Bay, sheltered from the forecasted Southerly. The phosphorescence in the water that night was mesmerising. We set off early on our final morning, once again rounding West Head very comfortably. We then had brunch on a mooring off Palm Beach, in the shelter of Barrenjoey Headland.
After a few days aboard the delightfully decked-out Kangaroo, we felt as if we’d had a week away. Cruising on weekdays, meant we had our pick of most of the moorings and the pristine environment was amazingly unspoilt and quiet, even in February. It's always such a treat to sail on this impeccably maintained piece of Pittwater maritime history.

Michelle looks after Kangaroo beautifully and has equiped the boat with all the accoutrements you could need for your voyage. First time for us on Pittwater and Hawkesbury and definitely a first on the Kangaroo!! We loved it. Highlights were: the bush, Smiths Creek, Cottage Rock (waterfall), and for a treat, lunch at the Berowra Waters Inn and of course the elegant and beautifully maintained Kangaroo. Michele has thought of everything by way of necessities, and little touches to make 5 nights away on a boat easy. Being our first and hopefully not last trip to the Hawkesbury, we think we explored and discovered as much as we could.
Our journey:
Night 1 – Refuge Bay (waterfall).
Night 2 – Lunch at Bobbin Head; slept at Smiths Creek, which was our favourite mooring; took a long paddle board down the creek; saw eagle (white), string ray, beautiful clear water.
Night 3 – Cottage Rock; moored there for the day and the night; loved the fresh waterfall and beach; an equal favourite.
Night 4 – trip up Hawkesbury to Berowra Waters. Moored the night outside the Inn and enjoyed a fabulous dinner at the Inn. Experience worth every dollar.
Night 5 – lunch at Little Shark Rock Point beach, then back to Cottage Rock for a splash under the waterfall. Slept in America Bay.
Day 6 – headed back to Pittwater.
Thankyou Kangaroo for our wonderful and safe journey. Thanks also to Michele (we wish you and the Kangaroo many more voyages) and to Henry and Niels at Church Point Charter!b

As a reward for hitting 70 and permission to enter the very exclusive club, we joined on the Kangaroo for 3 glorious days and to explore this gorgeous water. First night in Jerusalem Bay after sumptuous lunch in Patonga, before mooring in Refuge Bay, where a Jenga challenge took place. We soon discovered Jenga on board in extremely hazardous! Time to move on to the cards. Back to the Basin for a walk and lunch before returning home. Such a memorable trip on such a magnificent vessel. Thanks to Michele and Henry for making it all possible.

Nicola, Kym & Susy spent an idyllic week on Kangaroo during the 2023 Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron Annual Cruise. We used Kangaroo as our Mothership & sailed on our RP Seaquest 36’ “Whistling Kite”. We largely moored at America & Refuge Bay & took day trips up to Akuna Bay, Cottage Point & Pinta Bay. It was magical waking up each morning to the calmness of our surroundings. It was also a trip down memory lane for Nicola & Susy as we had spent a lot of time on Pittwater in our respective childhoods on Halvorsens.
Kangaroo is beautifully set up – a lot of thought & care has gone into making trips comfortable & enjoyable. We manoeuvred coming onto & off moorings very well with the help of Henry’s tips & the outstanding instruction book. Every question was answered in that book.

Our last night (of 5) aboard the magnificent Kangaroo, as Easter prelude to my 70th in 5 day’s time.
A wonderful time down memory lane to be aboard a Halvorsen 36 footer. As a kid my family holidayed on Halvorsens in the late 50s – early 60s, and the most special Halvorsen of all was the 36 footer the Miramar, identical to the Kangaroo.
She is an immaculately preserved and well-cared for example of the great Halvorsen era.
My wife and I and two of our three adult children have had a really memorable time retracing my childhood passages in Pittwater and Cowan Creek, with our final night here under a starry sky in The Basin.
Congratulations on your obviously passionate preservation of this beautiful boat.

With our ever present determination and adventurous spirit, we came together to celebrate Michele’s 60th birthday. A sisterhood spanning 55 years, weathering miles of distance between us and many shared life stages. Our history is deep, with tales of many of life’s mountains climbed. Our friendship of deep respect and honesty, of unconditional heart-felt acceptance and support, which has helped sustain our life’s journeys. But now, our latest adventure… to celebrate all-things Michele, hence to embrace seven days on her Halvorsen Kangaroo. This boat we did not know, but with Michele at the helm we felt secure knowing she and Kangaroo would take us on our trip to many tranquil bays on the beautiful Cowan Creek. We could not have asked for a better captain, whose trust in her boat was sure and true. On the journey we hiked a part of the Great North Walk in Jerusalem Bay and Refuge Bay waterfall to the top and then cooled off under the falls. We floated with champers in Coasters Retreat and paddle boarded in Lords Bay. Then our final night in Patonga Bay, gracing the Boat House pub while playing canasta. However, our fondest memory forever will be of our cockpit beds and falling asleep to the rising full moon and waking to the gentle sunrise and all of nature awakening. Kangaroo’s elegance and warmth cocooned us as precious new memories were made over morning pots of tea with deep conversations, and long nights of bubbles and canasta cards never far away. Kangaroo has become a part of our sisterhood too. She has calmed our minds and bodies and prepared us to forge into our third stage of life with joy and a greater assurance of our unbreakable friendship. Love you Shell-Bell. Go well into your days ahead.

Our third long weekend on Kangaroo and we loved it just as much as the first!

Cheryl, Matthew & Tom Jones (15) spent a VERY relaxing 3 days aboard this beautiful boat.
Matthew soaked in the history of the Halvorsen boats reading the book, peaking at the motor and reminiscing about his own wooden yacht he owned in Geelong.
Tom was captain and drove everywhere. Cheryl enjoyed the scenery and the luxury of reading a book. We enjoyed discovering the corners of the inlets, swimming at Refuge Bay, having a drink and meeting the owner of another Halvorsen 36’ “Enterprise”.
Thankyou everyone involved in maintaining this lovely old boat.

Michele, your guests have been Dallas & Christine, Luppo & CD, Mac & Virginia, Suzanne & Craig.
We have enjoyed a relaxed day of cruising and very safe harbour near Currawaong Beach, as part of an Anniversary Celebration Weekend. We have respectively achieved a milestone of 40 years, 35, 30 & 28 years of marriage. We are therefore well placed on board ‘Kangaroo’ which was launched in 1958 ~ 64 years ago ~ and also has a few kinks & some lines that reflect her age. ‘Kangaroo’ is a delight to share with guests; beautifully presented and a joy to ride and explore.
Thankyou for your warmth of welcome on board. Best wishes to you and all those who continue to ensure that ‘Kangaroo’ thrives on Pittwater.

We had a wonderful day out on the Pittwater with the MV Kangaroo! Michele (owner) and Ian were so great as crew. They were full of fascinating information about the boat and the area and were fantastic with our little girls. The whole family (Nana's birthday) had a fantastic time and Michele was an absolute pleasure to deal with from booking through to the completion of the journey. Would highly recommend the MV Kangaroo as a beautiful boat and Michele and Ian if you were looking for crew help.
